Learning and Teaching
Education begins at birth and is a life-long process. We aim to make an effective contribution to every child’s life and enable learners to express themselves clearly and confidently and communicate with others effectively. Our curriculum aims are for each child to develop:
- Creativity
- Understanding
- Competence and confidence
- Values
- Respect
- Fitness
- Interests and skills
- Self esteem
- Positive attitudes
Miles Coverdale Primary School has many creative, sporting, environmental studies and health related topics that the children are involved in throughout the academic year. We work closely with a variety of visitors, including the parents and the community to promote learning through workshops. The children take part in a wide range of tournaments and competitions and make many visits outside school. We have strong learning links and are regularly involved in projects with the BBC, the Royal Opera House, Royal Academy of Arts, National Gallery, National Theatre and Lyric Theatre. Children work with different sports’ coaches for football, cricket, tennis and basketball.
Extra-curricular clubs include guitar, basketball, football, magazine, chess, dance and drama, art, cookery and street dance.
