Welcome to Year 6!
Following a busy year in Year 5, our pupils have now reached their final year in Key Stage 2. This year in Year 6, we are committed to developing our pupils’ skills as independent enquirers, creative thinkers, reflective learners, team workers, self managers and effective participators as they prepare for transition into Key Stage 3 in Year 7.
Your children are aware of the need for on-going assessment so that they know their progress and achievements that they have made and they are also aware of those areas or aspects where gaps in their understanding remain and need to be addressed in order to secure the necessary progression in and meet the end of Key Stage 2 expectations in preparation for the SATs.
So that all of our pupils' needs are met, teaching is balanced between providing support and interventions while also ensuring that your child continues to develop a sense of responsibility as an independent learner. The home-school link will continue to play a vital role in this, so we always aim to keep you informed of your child’s progress.
