Welcome to Class E!

The learning in Class E is based around the Early Years Curriculum which is through play based activities. This half term the theme will be ‘All about Me’. The children will be learning all about themselves, the body and what keeps us keeping fit and healthy, our ‘family’ our  ‘senses’ and our  ‘local environment’. They will be learning new vocabulary through lots of speaking and listening activities, role play, drama, shared reading of factual book, stories, songs and rhymes relating to the theme.

In maths this term we will be learning about number, through counting, ordering and problem solving with numbers and also about size.
 
This is how we will be covering the topic: It is subject to change in order to follow children’s individual needs and interests.
Weekly Theme                                                                                    
All About Me:       Looking at facial features and what we can do.

My Body:              Naming and labelling parts of the body and learning about what we can do with our body.

My Family:            Who is in my family? My family Tree.

The Senses:         Naming and learning about how we use our senses.

Where I live:        Creating maps to follow a route and plot buildings within the local environment. 
Reading:
Your child will be given a book to read at home every day. Please return it to school each day. Please comment on your child’s approach to the book and reading.
 
 
Your child will get ‘happy faces’ as a reward for good speaking, listening, sharing, turn taking and good thinking during adult directed activities. When they get ten happy faces they will receive a certificate.

General Reminders:
Homework Friday will be homework day. This will be in the form of letters and phonics practise, writing, reading and maths tasks.

PE.Tuesday:  Your child can bring shorts and T. Shirt.

Uniform: Please ensure that your child wears the school uniform and that it has your child’s name.

Please make sure your child arrives at school on time. 8:50a.m so that they can start their learning straight away.  End of day for Language Unit Classes is 3.05pm.
Please bring your child to school every day. Children get a special certificate for 100% attendance. If your child is ill for any reason please inform the school.
