Miles Coverdale Primary School

In addition to the extra-curricular clubs, Miles Coverdale offers a Breakfast Club from 8.00 until 8.50 every morning and a play-centre provision from hometime until 6.00 each day.

Breakfast Club is run by two of our staff members and children are offered a choice of breakfasts from our variety menu.  Typical breakfasts include toasts, cereals, waffles, crumpets and bagels and a cup of milk.

On arrival children choose their preferred breakfast.  Once they have finished they will take part in a choice of indoor games, outdoor games, arts & craft or study support.  At 8.45 children in key stage 2 will make their way to the playground to join their class-mates for lining up while the younger children will be accompanied by a member of staff to the Key Stage 1 playground.  In line with our strong commitment to safeguarding children, no child will be released into the playground without adult supervision.

Children can attend on whichever day families need it but must be booked in advance and no later than 4:00 the day before.  We will, of course, help out in emergencies.  The cost of breakfast club, including breakfast, is just £3.00 per day payable, in advance, via the Gateway App where possible.

Play Centre

Our Play-Centre provision is run by two experienced people who have a number of years of experience of working with children of primary school age.  Play-Centre opens at 3.30 (Children are supervised in school between home-time and play-centre).  

The play-centre provides your child with a safe, fun and welcoming environment after school and is open until 6:00pm.  Children are provided with a light snack.  Once they have eaten,  the children will get involved in a variety of fun things to do including indoor play, indoor games, outdoor play, arts & craft, homework support and more.  

We are flexible on timings so if you need to pick up your child early you can simply call the number given to arrange collection.  Also, if your child currently attends an after-school club and you need childcare when it finishes, your child can simply go along to play-centre when the club finishes.  We do ask that you let the school know as soon as you are able to if you want your child to attend.

Early Arrivals and Late Collections

If children arrive at school before 8.45 they will be taken to Breakfast Club so that staff members can supervise them until 8.45.  Parents will incur a £3.00 per child fee for this provision.

If your child is not collected at hometime he or she will be supervised by staff members in the Play-Centre area and parents will incur a fee of at least £6.00 for their supervision.  This will increase after 3.45pm.

We ask parents to ensure that they collect children from extra-curricular clubs at the relevant time (all clubs finish at 4.30).  Parents must not arrive later than 6.00pm for play-centre collection.  A fee of £5.00 for every five minutes that a parent is late, becomes payable from 6.10pm.   If another member of your family is collecting your child please make sure staff are aware.
